  • CCJ City Council PB Presentation

    July 25, 2017 @ 10:00 pm - 11:30 pm
Chattanooga City Council, 1000 Lindsay St, Chattanooga, TN 37402, USA

Join Concerned Citizens for Justice on July 25th, Tuesday at 6pm for the Chattanooga City Council Meeting at 1000 Lindsey Street, where members of CCJ will give a presentation on Participatory Budgeting. PB is a process to create budgets through real community planning and direct democracy. (More info in links below.)

With the strong leadership of grassroots communities in Chattanooga we can transform the way our city creates its budget, which is one tool and tactic that reflects the real intentions and priorities those in power. In gaining some grassroots control, we can take another step toward creating real democracy and community control in our lifetime. Across the South and nationally, communities are rising up to build independent political power, and we stand alongside others doing this work through the Southern Movement Assembly (SouthToSouth.org) and the Movement for Black Lives (policy.m4bl.org).

If you think people should have a voice in how their city spends it's money, and if you think community members should build and demand more ways to hold power in the decisions that govern their lives, then CCJ needs you at the CHA CIty Council meeting on July 25. Mobilize your neighborhood, your family, your crew, your organization- bring the whole team! If the City Council passes a Participatory Budgeting ordinance, it'll take all the grassroots community organizations in the city coming together to serve our communities and make it possible. The people have seen what they can do to impact a local election; lets keep it moving, lets keep it transformative.

Organizations and people are coordinating across borders and beyond single issues to demand justice and to build a better world.

Join us to hear from organizers on frontlines of their community. Come share your work and learn how you can connect to a broad, coordinated plan of action to dismantle oppression and practice liberation.
